Sergey Markofken is a renowned artist working in one of the most dynamically developing contemporary art directions — Spin Art. Author's galleries of the artist are located in St. Petersburg and Dubai.

Sergey Markofken creates conceptual art projects, constantly experimenting with the forms and possibilities of artistic material. In the process of creation of paintings while splashing the paint throughout the canvas the artist uses an impressive amount of special tools: pendulums, spinners and other rotating and swinging objects.

However all these objects spin not randomly, but strictly following a specified trajectory defined by the artist, which makes it possible to create a masterpiece that exactly conveys the emotional state of the author. Despite the fact that the first mentionings of Spin Art date back to the fifties of the last century, this contemporary art direction has been significantly developing only recently. Since the 1960s, Spin Art has been featured in the works of contemporary artists such as Alfons Schilling, Annick Gendron and Lawrence Stafford. Moreover, one of the richest painters of our days - Damien Hirst – used this technique in his works. The paintings created by Sergey Markofken are distinguished by charisma and unique emotional view of the world that the artist conveys through his art. Without the boundaries of professional art education, not limited by any cliche view of a style or a combination of colors formed by the classical art school, Sergey Markofken creates his own unique images transferring to the canvases the entire palette of complex emotions, experiences and meanings that are reflected in the perception of the spectator. Each person has an individual perception, a special one. Each spectator can see a different image, feel a different emotion and create an original allegory. The author's art was definitely influenced by the painters that create their works using Spin Art technique. However, Sergey Markofken derives inspiration for his works primarily from the Form and Content of the surrounding world. The Form is determined by the combination of colors of the perfection of nature itself. The Content of his artworks is defined by the profound meanings... by the artist. Quotation: «The world of the artist is not limited by his works. The artist is defined primarily by the meanings that he reveals and conveys to the world. It is the meanings that determine his audience. It is the meanings that unite his followers and admirers. It is your meanings and ideas that affect other people's lives. It is your meanings that really matter for success. The works are secondary in this sense...» Sergey Markofken presents his works at domestic and foreign exhibitions, auctions, conducts show performances and lectures on contemporary art, cooperates with charitable organizations.
