With all the ballyhoo on technological innovation and Artificial Intelligence usurping a creative coup d’etat upending the profession rendering architects anachronistic; architecture, fundamentally is visceral, deeply connected with the cultural and regional context, shaped by the climate it must withstand and respond to, and meaningfully relate to the building traditions and crafts that forms its unique vernacular. While we as a practice endorse and embrace avant grade design innovation, which at times are disconnected from the context and may be universal in its cultural references- as innovation per se, could at some level have independent and autonomous existence; architecture attains its full potential when it is relatable and responsive to the genius loci. It is the rootedness of the built space that makes architecture exceptional.
